STRENGTHENING FAMILIES PROGRAMS (SFP) for Parents of Children
6-11 and 10-14: -- Evidence Based Programs of Distinction
- Parents and children learn together with family
skills-building curriculum delivered with multiple sessions
using role-playing, discussions, learning games, family projects
and videos. SFP has been proven effective in (a) lowering
levels of aggression, and reducing risk factors for problem
behaviors, including emotional, academic and social problems;
(b) increasing the resistance to peer pressure in youth; (c)
delaying the onset of adolescent substance use and (d)
increasing the ability of parents/caregivers to set appropriate
limits and show affection to and support of their children.
